The Board of Trustees is a mix of retired USPHS officers and professionals in other fields. Each Trustee serves one three-year term. Trustees are eligible for a second term. The Board of Trustees provides strategic guidance to the Foundation.
All former Surgeons General of the USPHS are invited to serve as Honorary Trustees.
The original Board of Trustees created the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health in 2000. The Foundation was created to provide support for those serving in the Commissioned Corps of the USPHS and to build partnerships between the Commissioned Corps and the larger public health community.
