The foundation is committed to supporting education activities that:

• Improve the knowledge and expertise of public health professionals; and
• Increase public awareness and understanding of public health issues.

Our efforts include:

• Creating printed and online educational materials on important health themes designed to educate a wide variety of audiences about public health, including the media, government officials and the general public. These materials highlight the current and future role of the nation’s professional public health workers;
• Offering support to speakers to allow them to participate in professional conferences;
• Developing distance learning seminars for public health professionals in remote areas;
• Providing scholarships for junior PHS Commissioned Officers to attend continuing education sessions;
• Providing college scholarships for dependents of USPHS Commissioned Officers; and
• Supporting the annual Public Health Professional Conference.
• Providing partial fee greants for the annual Public Health Professional Conference.

COF Announces Scholarship Winners for 2010
Twelve deserving dependents of PHS Commissioned Officers have been awarded a total of $9,800 in Scholarship money for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Over 30 applications were received and winners were chosen by a panel of active and retired PHS Officers.
