The PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health was created in 2000 to provide support for those serving in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and to build partnerships between the Commissioned Corps and the larger public health community. The Foundation serves public health professionals nationwide by providing an array of programs and services including education and research efforts and an annual symposium. We welcome your support for the foundation’s work.
The largest event the Foundation hosts is the USPHS Scientific & Training Symposium. It began in 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland and has rotated throughout the country ever since. The 49th annual symposium will take place in Raleigh, NC on June 10-12, 2014. The Foundation will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and the 50th anniversary of Surgeon General Luther Terry's Smoking and Health report.
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are fully tax-deductible as charitable donations for income tax purposes. Donations are recognized at the annual Public Health Symposium and in the newsletter Frontline.
